Fortunately for me this very windy day
was also a nice, warm day. I got soaked, and almost blown off the concrete six times while getting in position to catch the
waves and spray coming up over the breakwater walls. At times winds and squalls come up so quickly there is little warning
around these Lake Michigan waters. About a year before I shot these photographs four young people were fishing
off the point of the Port Washington Breakwater Lighthouse when high winds suddenly came upon them. Two of the youngsters
were blown off the slippery surface into the rocks as they tried to make it back to the safety of the shoreline.
They did not survive. As beautiful as the water can be through the forces of mother nature, it can also be deadly.
God rest their souls.
