The Sherwood Point Lighthouse, built in 1883, stands above the meeting of
Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay. Still in operation, the lighthouse grounds are used as an R&R facility by members of the neaby
Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Station. The grounds are not usually open to the public, although many people stop by just to view
it.
Did you ever see goats on top of a grassy roofed restaurant?
You will in Door County at Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant near Sister Bay. Yes, they serve goat cheese in the restaurant!
The Chambers Island Lighthouse, built in 1868, was said
to be haunted until 1987 when a group of nuns toured through the lighthouse and prayed for the spirit's release. After that
there were no reported "ghostly" sightings, noises, or strange movements of objects in the house. It is located off the
Door County Peninsula on the west side and guards the passage into western Green Bay. The lighthouse is accessible only by
boat during the spring through fall season.
